Spartan News: Heart monitors get kids pumped about PE.

SCOTTVILLE — Mason County Central elementary physical education teacher Brooks Johnson has a problem in her physical education classes, she can’t get the students to sit still! That’s actually a good problem, she says, and it has increased since the school purchased Heart Zone heart rate monitors.

The monitors are warn on the forearm and send an electronic signal to an Apple iPad in the corner of the gym. That iPad then projects each student’s heart rate on the wall. The students have been getting excited trying to get their heart rates to increase, Johnson says.
