LUDINGTON — A 28-year-old Hart man was sentenced in 51st Circuit Court Tuesday, Feb. 11, to two to 20 years in prison for a conviction of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine.
Robert Allen King, of 3752 W. Van Buren Rd., was convicted as a second-offense habitual offender.
King’s attorney, Cory Rickett, asked Judge Susan K. Sniegowski if his client could be placed in the Special Alternative Incarceration (SAI) program or “boot camp.” Judge Sniegowski said she would not object.
“Clearly, substance abuse is a primary issue for him,” said Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola, citing meth and heroin as the drugs he uses.
King became addicted to meth and was selling it to support himself and his family, Judge Sniegowski said. However, he has a limited criminal history.
King received credit for 63 days served in jail.
Sentencing guidelines in the case are 15-24 months.
