Shopping with heroes.

AMBER TOWNSHIP — The second annual Shop with a Hero event took place Monday evening at Meijer. Firefighters, EMS personnel, Coast Guardsmen and other military personnel assisted 35 Mason County children to purchase gifts for themselves and their families. The kids also received a Jimmy John’s sub sandwich and a calendar from Todd and Brad Reed Photography, along with a gift basket. Each family will receive a holiday meal delivered to them the end of the week.

On Tuesday, 35 more children will have the opportunity to participate in Shop with a Cop at Walmart.

Funds for the program come from the community. Children who participate are identified through their schools as in-need.
