PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP – A 51-year-old Ludington woman allegedly slipped off a handcuff and attempted to strike a Mason County sheriff’s deputy in the face during an arrest for operating while intoxicated Tuesday, Sept. 10, shortly after 2 a.m. at the intersection of Nelson and Johnson roads, said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.
Penny Henderson, who was arrested following a traffic stop, now also faces a felony of resisting and opposing arrest, said Cole.
“During the arrest, she allegedly refused to get in the patrol car,” said Cole. “And after being handcuffed, she reportedly slipped from one handcuff and attempted to strike a deputy in the face.”
Henderson was arraigned in 79th District Court and has been released from jail on a $2,500/10 percent/cash/surety bond, according to the sheriff.
