Obituary: Gordon Groth, 81, Ludington.
Gordon Glenn Groth, 81, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2019 at his home in Ludington.
Gordon was born May 4, 1938 in Ludington, the son of William and Floramae Groth. He graduated from Scottville High School in 1957 and then attended Michigan State University. He married his high school sweetheart, Janet Jablonski, on July 12, 1958. Together they raised two children.
Gordon farmed, worked at Stokelys, and retired from Peterson Farms. He also spent many years as a Hamlin/Victory firefighter lieutenant and served as president at the Mason County Farm Bureau. He had a passion for woodcarving and won several first-place ribbons for his talent.
After retirement Gordon and Janet enjoyed traveling in their motorhome to Rockport, Texas where they made many new friends. He also enjoyed gardening with his soulmate on their many beautiful flower gardens.
Gordon was survived by his daughter, Robin (Richard) Pisarek; son, Gary (Lisa Garn) Groth; daughter in-law, Susan (Tom) Smith; grandchildren, Sara (Mark Lorenson) Groth, Jody (Troy) Porter, Alex Pisarek, Jordyn (Derek Garn) Groth, Scarlett Pisarek; great grandchildren, Zachary Groth, Cassidy Lorenson, and Ayden Porter. Also, two sisters; Diana (Richard) Palmer and Florence (Bud) Knoblauch.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, William and Floramae Groth.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Victory Trinity Lutheran Church, with visitation starting at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Victory Trinity Lutheran Church.
