Obituary: Michael McCrath, 63, Ludington

Michael Paul McCrath, 63, of Ludington, passed away on June 20, 2019.  

Mike was born on January 4, 1956 in Beaufort, S.C., the son of Paul and Jo McCrath.  He married JoEllen Balcom on October 14, 1989. Mike graduated from Ludington High School, class of 1974.

Mike was always a caring and loving son to his parents.  He was a loving and faithful husband to his wife, JoEllen, for more than 30 years and loved her children and grandchildren as if they were his own.  He was a quality painter for Ron Newberg Construction and had skills in many different areas of expertise. He was held in high regard by his customers and friends.

Mike enjoyed music.  He sang and played with a country band.  He played Santa one year in the James Street Square and would entertain children with his Donald Duck talk.  Mike also played with the praise team at Cornerstone Baptist Church and served as a sound technician during services.

He loved animals and was forever taking in strays.  He was a good friend to those who knew him and would drop everything to help a friend or anyone in need of help.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington, with visitation starting at noon.
