Obituary: Joshua Delbarker, 41, Ludington.
Joshua Robert Delbarker, 41, of Ludington, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2019.
Joshua was born on June 4, 1977 in Ludington, the son of Robert Delbarker and Diane Delbarber-Hawley. He graduated from Ludington High School in 1995. He was the No. 1 singles tennis player for four years and northern Michigan’s No. 1 ranked player for age 16 and under in 1993. Joshua attended Alma College for two years, where he played tennis. In 2000, he earned his bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Western Michigan University. Joshua had a soft spot for stray animals, enjoyed playing golf and was an excellent fisherman.
Joshua is survived by his parents, Robert Delbarker and Diane (Homer) Delbarker-Hawley; brother, Jeffrey (Melissa) Delbarker, step-siblings, Jordan Hawley and Hannah Hawley; and aunts and uncles, Shauna (Bill) Virgo, Steven Delbarker, Bob (Carol) Hawley, Martha (Larry) Johnson, Jeri (David) Wakely, Sara Mallison, Daniel Hawley, Tina (Al) Hayes, Darlene (Tim) Gahan, Walt (Linda) Hawley, and George Hawley.
Joshua was preceded in death by his grandparents, Myron “Jelly” and Lois Delbarker, and Clarence and Donna King; and uncle, Clarence King Jr.
A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lakeshore Animal Friends or The Brain & Behavior Research Foundation, 747 Third Ave, 33rd Floor, New York, NY 10017.
