Obituary: Gladys Boyer, 92, Custer

Gladys L. Boyer, 92, of Custer passed away Monday, February 4, 2019. She was born February 19, 1926 in Ludington to Oscar and Mabel (Lund) Weinert. Gladys was raised by her aunt and uncle, Paul and Agnes (Townes) Weinert. She graduated from Ludington High School in 1944 and went on to cosmetology school and graduated in 1945.

She married Walter J. Boyer on August 24, 1946 in Ludington. Together they raised three children. Gladys worked on and off in cosmetology but she was primarily a wife, mother, and homemaker.

Gladys enjoyed her family and social gatherings. She also enjoyed camping, canoeing, listening to music, traveling, and sightseeing. She was a wonderful cook and she loved a good practical joke!

She will be greatly missed by her husband of 72 years, Walter; her children, Chuck (Denise) Boyer of Midland, Jim (Bev) Boyer of Howard City, and Beth Boyer of Custer; her grandchildren, Chris (Tim) Anderson, Nina (Brent) Myers, Leia Riley, Danele (Max) Yemets, Alison (Dan) Boyer Rood; her great-grandchildren, Max, Emma, Levi, Cody, Shania, Mariaha, Melissa, Braydon, Chloe, Evan, Mila, Mae, and Clark.

Besides her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her siblings, Myrtle, Arthur, Willard, Kenneth, and Lawrence.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Scottville. Family will greet friends starting at noon.

Memorial contributions in Gladys’s name may be directed to Our Savior Lutheran Church or Great Lakes Caring Hospice.
