Going fishin’ at MCE.

CUSTER — Dick Hermann wanted to give back to the community. Last year he read a district newsletter from Mason County Eastern Schools asking for volunteers to share their skills with students. He approached Superintendent Paul Shoup and proposed a fishing club.
The club began last week and meets every Tuesday during the last hour of school. It is open to any middle school or high school student. The first week had seven participants and this week’s club had 10.
Shoup, an avid fisherman, is assisting Hermann.
Hermann said the first project the club is working on is learning how to tie flies. Eventually they will move on to rod building and will get out to a local lake and do some hands-on fishing.
