Obituary: Bernice “Bunnie” Budreau, 92, of Ludington.
Bernice “Bunnie” Budreau, 92, of Ludington passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018 under the great and loving care of the staff of Medilodge Nursing Home and Hospice of Michigan. She was born November 3, 1926 in Ludington to Homer and Florence (Arndt) McKee.
Bunnie graduated from Ludington High School in 1945. She married the late Gerald Budreau on November 8, 1947 in Ludington. Together they raised two sons, Douglas and Robert.
Bunnie was employed at Jackson Vibrators after high school until 1952. After the birth of her sons, she worked as a secretary for the Mason County United Fund for five years. She also did secretarial work for several businesses out of her own home and was a public stenographer. In 1967 she accepted a position as secretary at the O.J. DeJonge Junior High School and retired from there in 1983.
She was devoted to and loved her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Bunnie is survived by her son, Robert “Bob” (Beth) Budreau of Ludington; her daughter-in-law, Naja Budreau of Ludington; her five grandchildren, Heather Haiss, Allison (Ryan) Butkus, Joel (Krista) Budreau, Travis Budreau, and Mya (Nate) Jones; her great-grandchildren, Awston, Jayson, McKinsey, Hayden, Bennett, Beau, Mason, Madison, Charlee, Jade, Kimber, and Wade.
Besides her parents, Bunnie was preceded in death by her husband Gerald “Jerry” Budreau; her son, Douglas Budreau; and her brother, Richard McKee.
A funeral will be held Friday, December 21, 2018 at noon at the Oak Grove Funeral Home in Ludington. Family will greet friends starting at 10 a.m. also at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions in Bunnie’s name may be directed to the Lakeshore Food Club or the Spectrum Ludington Hospital Foundation – Cancer Assist Fund.
