Obituary: Patrick Payment, 76, Ludington.

Patrick Hoyt Payment, 76, of Ludington, passed away on November 2, 2018.

Patrick was born on December 5, 1941 in Ludington, the son of Hoyt and Ann (Findling) Payment.  He was wed to Des Neiges “Dee” Marquis on July 24, 1999 at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Scottville.  Patrick graduated from St. Simon High School in 1959 and attended DeVry Institute of Technology. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and the Michigan National Guard.  Patrick was employed by GTE as an engineer, retiring after 29 years of dedicated service.

Patrick was a hard working and humble soul, who was solid as a rock.  He cared deeply for his wife and family. He was a member of St. Simon Catholic church and lived the Catholic life, generously donating to many, many causes including St. Simon Catholic Schools, St. Jude’s, and many others.  He was a true volunteer who spent time in Haiti, helping the helpless. He took communion to the infirm and had a strong work ethic. Patrick enjoyed camping with his kids, bowling, cross country skiing, playing golf, gardening, and traveling.

Patrick is survived by his wife, Dee Marquis-Payment; brother, Mike Payment; children, Christopher (Terri) Payment, Catherine Payment, Timothy Payment, Meaghan (Jim) Leginza McCann, and Senator Sean (Priscilla) McCann; grandchildren, Andrew (Jamie) Payment, Bret Payment, Paulina Payment, Andrew McCann Leginza, Claire McCann Leginza, Alexander McCann, and Lauren McCann; great granddaughter, Emma Payment; nephew, Josh Buck; niece, Megan (Brian) Josefowicz; great nephew, Mayer Josefowicz; and great niece, Annie Josefowicz.

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ann Payment; and sister-in-law, Julie Payment.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at Oak Grove Funeral Home, from 5 to 7 p.m.

A Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. Simon Catholic Church, with The Rev. Wayne B. Wheeler, Jr. presiding.  Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan, Haiti Outreach, or St. Simon Bargain Center.
