Obituary: Barbara Knudsen, 82, Ludington.
Barbara Ann Knudsen, 82, of Ludington, passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2018.
Barbara was born on July 25, 1936 in Amber Township, the daughter of the late Nels and Agda (Vestin) Knudsen. She dedicated her life to serving others. Barbara founded the LPN Program at West Shore Community College. She started her nursing career at Stearns Memorial Hospital, then furthered her passion as a missionary nurse in Africa. After the communists ran her group out of Ethiopia, she continued her work in Cameroon. Once she was back stateside, Barbara was a home health nurse in Muskegon, then retired back home in Mason County.
Barbara was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. She shared her love of puzzles with her great nieces and nephews, loved her cat, and lead Bible studies at Longfellow Towers for many years.
Barbara is survived by her sisters, Elsa Morris and Genevieve (Donald) Veldt; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church of Ludington, with visitation starting at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
