Obituary: Robert Johnson, 86, Ludington.

Robert Lester Johnson, 86, of Ludington, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2018.  

Robert was born and raised in Ludington, the son of Bert and Evelyn Johnson.  He married the late Beverly (Brautigam) Johnson on October 31, 1964 and helped raise their three children.  When he was 16, Robert went to work for the Ludington carferries serving in many capacities which included, deck hand, a machinist helper, and various other areas, finally retiring after 44 years of dedicated service.

Robert enjoyed fishing in his younger years, camping, watching Tigers baseball, and gardening as long as physically possible. He also  enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, league bowling in which his claim to fame was achieving a 7/10 split, and was a member of the Sons of the American Legion.

Robert is survived by his children, Nancy (fiancé Ed Dains) Bates, Steven (Rebecca) Johnson, and Lori (Matt) Stancill; grandchildren, Timothy Smedberg, Kyle Comstock, Morgan Johnson, Caitlyn (Matthew) Morrison, and McKenzie Johnson; six great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce (Fred) Strong; and granddogs, Ruger and Daisy Stancill.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2018.Visitation is at 1 p.m. wtih memorial service at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 220 N Jebavy Dr, Ludington.  Memorial contributions may be made to Great Lakes Caring Hospice.
