Obituary: John Wabsis, 70, Branch.

John Richard Wabsis Sr., 70, of Branch, passed away on October 1, 2018.  

John was born on September 29, 1947 in Ludington, the son of Leo and Dolores Wabsis.  He was raised in Fountain and attended one of the one-room school houses at the end of his road.  As a young man, John fell in love with Roberta Sterling and used to walk from Custer to Brethren just to spend time with her.

John worked as a brick layer for Tridonn Construction for many years.  He had a lot of fun riding his Harley, tinkering and wrenching in the garage, and scrapping.

John is survived by his children, John (Diane) Wabsis Jr., Robert (Doreen) Wabsis, James Wabsis, Mary Wabsis, and Joe (Paula) Wabsis; their mother, Roberta Wabsis; his siblings, Jim Wabsis and Mary Hankey; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and his little dog, Bullet.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington.
