LUDINGTON — The Ludington Police Department is seeking help identifying a couple who have allegedly been squatting in a vacant home in the 200 block of East Melendy Street for nearly three weeks, said Ludington Police Chief Mark Barnett.
A locksmith recently visited the home and discovered that a side door had been kicked in, and personal belongings were found in the home.
During the investigation, police interviewed neighbors who told them that the couple had been living in the house, Aug. 1-17. The neighbors initially thought the couple had moved in to the house, but became suspicious when the woman came over asking for food, he said.
The suspects are described as a white couple in their 40s, both with dark tans. The man is approximately 6’2″ with a slim build and short, reddish colored hair, the chief said. The woman is approximately 5’0″ and is very thin with brown hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information that can help identify the couple is asked to contact Detective Aaron Sailor at 231-843-3425.
