Obituary: James Faulkner, 75, Gwinn, formerly of Scottville.
James Logan Faulkner, 75, of Gwinn, a resident of the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans, entered eternal life Thursday, June 28, 2018.
Jim was born February 9, 1943, in Eau Claire, Michigan, a son of Howell and Jean (Gregory) Faulkner. A graduate of Eau Claire High School, Class of 1961, Jim continued his education at Benton Harbor Community College from 1961 to 1963 and Michigan State University, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1965. From 1965 until his honorable discharge in 1967, Jim served in the US Navy during the Vietnam Era.
Returning home, he enrolled at Western Michigan University earning a Masters Degree in Biology and his teaching certificate in 1970. Jim’s teaching career as a middle school science teacher began in Berrien Springs (1970-1972) and continued at Mason County Central from 1972 until 1998. Jim was a member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 1144, serving as troop leader from 1974 to 1984, and a member of the VFW. An avid outdoorsman, Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at camp. He also had an appreciation of art, especially oil painting.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Sherri Faulkner; son, Jason Faulkner; his grandchildren, Alli Brandt, Bailee Szpiech, and Jake Brandt; a great-grandchild, Blake Szpiech; his sister, Diane Cerretti; nieces and nephews, Alister, Nicholas, and Kyle Cerretti, and Lauren Seaburg.
No services will be held.
