Obituary: Sanford Wendt, 88, Custer. 

Sanford C. Wendt, 88, of Custer passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2018.  Sanford was born on July 30, 1929 in Ludington, the son of Charles and Clara (Henze) Wendt and graduated from Ludington High School with the class of 1947.  He married Ruth Dickey on August 8, 1948 and they celebrated 69 years together before Ruth preceded him in death on April 20, 2018.  He was also preceded in death by his sons, Larry in 1964, and Richard in 2011.  Sanford and Ruth resided on a farm south of Custer for over 64 years where they raised their five children together.  Sanford was also a retiree of Dow Chemical in Ludington where he worked multiple jobs over his career.

Sanford will be greatly missed by his children, Charles Wendt and wife Carole, Sandra Durfee and husband James, all of Scottville, and Thomas Wendt and wife Debra of Custer; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held for Sanford at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 29 at Riverside Cemetery in Custer with his friend The Rev. Norman Letsinger officiating.  Those who wish to remember Sanford with a memorial donation are asked to consider the Scottville Area Senior Center.
