Obituary: Carrine “Carrie” Armstrong, 84, Free Soil.

Mrs. Carrine “Carrie” Armstrong, 84, of Free Soil passed away the evening of Friday, January 5, 2018 at her Ohio home in the loving arms of her family.  Carrie was born on June 8, 1933, in Free Soil, the daughter of Henry and Cornelia (Hill) White.  On July 22, 1950 she married Joseph Armstrong and they celebrated 63 years together before Joseph preceded her in death on September 17, 2014.

Carrie was a caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She was a caregiver most of her life, caring for those in need of home health care services.  She enjoyed word games and keeping up with family and friends by phone and coming home to Free Soil every summer to enjoy the retirement home she and her husband had built.

Carrie will be greatly missed by her six children, Lin Ward of Midland, Joseph Armstrong of Cleveland Height, Ohio, Barbara Johnson and Elizabeth Ivory both of Washington Township, Ohio, Robert Armstrong of University Heights, Ohio and Mark Armstrong of Twinsburg, Ohio; her brothers, Calvin Lane of Grand Rapids, and Chester White of Saginaw; her sister, Mattie Callieham of Shaker Heights, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  Along with her husband Joseph, Carrie was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Cornelia White, her sister Elizabeth Lane, and her brothers Harlan and Henry White.

Private family services will be held on Saturday January 13 at Wyman Funeral & Cremation Services – Stephens Funeral Home in Scottville.  Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Free Soil in the spring. Please visit Carrie’s memory page at www.wymanfuneralservice.com to leave a tribute of Carrie for her family, or to light a candle in her memory.
