Man hurt after crashing pickup into tree, cited for OWI.

LUDINGTON — A 20-year-old Scottville man was injured after crashing a 1993 green GMC pickup truck into a tree at the northeast corner of the intersection of Ludington Avenue and Gaylord Street near Ludington Rotary Park Monday, Dec. 11, shortly before 9:30 p.m., according to Ludington Police Chief Mark Barnett.

The man was transported by Life EMS to Ludington Spectrum Health Hospital and was scheduled to be transferred to a Grand Rapids hospital, the chief said.

He was cited for operating while intoxicated and careless driving, Barnett said.

Extensive damage was done to the driver’s side of the truck, and debris from the crash was scattered around the scene, he said.

The man was wearing his seatbelt.

Ludington Fire Department also responded to the scene.
