LUDINGTON — The third annual Shop with a Cop Pie Auction will take place Wednesday, Nov. 22, from 8 a.m. to noon. The auction will be held live on Facebook and also on WMOM FM 102.7 from the council chambers at Ludington City Hall, 400 S. Harrison St.
Shop with a Cop is an opportunity for children-in-need to buy some Christmas presents for family members. They are helped by a local law enforcement officer during a night of shopping at Wal-Mart in Pere Marquette Township. This year, the shopping date is Dec. 19. The 60 children are referred to the program by their school counselor.
The program relies on donations from the community, with much of the proceeds coming from the pie auction. “The more money we raise, the more kids we can help,” Ludington Police Officer Tony Kuster said, one of the event organizers said.
Anyone wishing to donate a pie may bring the pie to city hall between 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21. Donors are asked to only donate one pie.
