People Fund and YAC grants help FLSP meet match grant to purchase playground equipment for Ludington State Park
HAMLIN TOWNSHIP — Friends of Ludington State Park recently raised the $15,000 it needed to match a $62,727.50 grant offered by playground equipment manufacturer GameTime and the equipment has been ordered for the proposed accessible playground at the Hamlin Lake beach area of Ludington State Park.
The $15,000 goal was achieved from a $5,000 grant Great Lakes Energy People Fund, along with a grant of $846 from the Youth Advisory Council of the Community Foundation for Mason County and many individual donors for FLSP. The GameTime grant covers half the cost of $125,000 equipment.
FLSP still has to raise about $75,000 for the poured in place surfacing which is a key for greater accessibility and is seen as safer than other surfacing options.
FLSP plans to build a highly accessible, family friendly, two-playscape playground at the Hamlin Lake picnic area in Ludington State Park. The total project is estimated to cost $202,000.
More project information and a video of the accessible playground are available of the Friends of Ludington State Park Facebook page and its website, www.ludingtonfriends.com.
