SCOTTVILLE — A 19-year-old Ludington man riding a bicycle was injured Tuesday night when he was struck by a pick-up truck driven by a 59-year-old Scottville woman. The incident occurred on South Scottville Road near Riverside Park.
The crash was discovered at 7:52 p.m. by Scottville Police Sgt. Jason Williams as he was on patrol in that area. Williams stated in a police report that he noticed a bicycle on the ground on the east side of Scottville Road just north of J. Ralph Reeds Drive (the main entrance into Riverside Park). Williams also noticed a person rolling on the ground waving his hands as well. At that time, Life EMS ambulance and Scottville Fire Department were also dispatched. Mason County Sheriff’s Office deputies also responded to assist.
According to Scottville Police Department, the pickup was northbound on Scottville Road. The driver, Donna Morton, told Sgt. Williams that due to the rainy weather conditions she did not see the bicyclist, who was on the right side shoulder of the road. The bicyclist, Westley Badour, told police that he was walking his bike along the shoulder of the road and heading northbound on Scottville Road when he was hit from behind, according to the police report. He said he was on his way to work in Ludington.
Badour, was transported to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital by ambulance. His mother, Michelle Badour, reported on MCP’s Facebook page this morning that Wesley had some memory loss from the crash but no other major injuries.
No citations were issued and the case is closed.
