LUDINGTON — The following were recently sentenced in Mason County’s 79th District Court:
-Luther Nicholas Ferrell, 73, of 3534 S. Masten Rd., Logan Township, pleaded guilty October 4 to carrying a concealed weapon while under the influence of alcohol, operating a vehicle while impaired by liquor (OWIL), and attempted assault/resisting/obstructing a police officer. He was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; must attend victim’s impact panel; Michigan privileges to carry a concealed weapon are revoked; must complete alcohol highway safety education; and $1,130 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to Secretary of State (SOS). Charges of third-degree fleeing police, operating while intoxicated (OWI), and reckless driving were dismissed.
-Melvin David Case, 47, of 165 N. Stiles Rd., Amber Township, pleaded guilty October 3 to disorderly person jostling and was sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail for one year; no contact with the victim; no drugs/alcohol; and $285 in fines/costs. Three counts of assault and battery were dismissed.
-Branden Lee Bryant, 28, of 6703 Lorne Dr., Pentwater, pleaded guilty October 3 to two counts of OWIL and was sentenced to 47 days in jail with credit for two days served; 93 days discretionary jail for two year; must attend victim’s impact panel; no drugs/alcohol; subject to random PBTs and drug tests; must continue current counseling program; and $1,845 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS. A charge of operating with a blood alcohol content of .17 or more was dismissed.
Dismissals
Arthur Lee Jackson, 58, of 709 ½ E. Foster St., Ludington, had a charge of domestic violence dismissed on October 6 because the victim is not available.
