Obituary: George Willavage, 98, Ludington.

George Willavage, 98, of Ludington, longtime resident of Branch passed away Monday, September 12, 2017 at Oakview Medical Care Facility.  George was born on September 11, 1919 in Girardville, Pennsylvania, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Willavage and served his country during World War II with the US Army in Austria.  On May 14, 1968, he married Mabel M. Evans in Toledo, Ohio and they have celebrated 49 together.

George was a retiree of the Ford Motor Company where he operated heavy machinery, and enjoyed living in Branch for many years where he could spend time fishing and hunting.  He and Mabel also enjoyed traveling together as well.

George was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Mary Ann in 1964, daughter Margaret “Peg” Bindus, granddaughter Karen Bartholomew, brother Joseph Willavage, and sister Catherine Kobash.

George will be lovingly remembered by his wife Mabel; his daughters: Diane (Ronald) Anderson of Coldwater, and Pamela Ghandour of Florida; his grandchildren: Kathy Miller of Melvindale, Rob Bindus of St. Paul, Minn., and David Batholomew of Rockwood; and his great-grandchildren: Daniel Miller, Thor and Ivan Bartholomew.

Funeral services will be held for George at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 15 at Wyman Funeral and Cremation Services – Stephens Funeral Home in Scottville.  Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Custer.  Friends may meet with his family for a time of visitation on Friday morning from 10 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.  Please visit George’s memory page at www.wymanfuneralservice.com to leave a tribute of George for his family or to light a candle in his memory.
