AMBER TOWNSHIP — A 2-year-old Canadian boy was seriously injured Tuesday, July 4, following a two vehicle crash on US 10 near the US 31 southbound on-ramp. The crash occurred about 12:14 p.m. when a westbound 2016 Volkswagen, driven by Michael Lyons George Ringrose, 33, of Scarborough, Ontario, attempted to make a U-Turn on US 10, colliding with an eastbound Chrysler Pacifica, driven by Lauren Rachel Harley, 34, of East Lansing. According to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole, Ringrose was apparently lost.
Ringrose’s 2-year-old son was transported to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital by Life EMS ambulance and then to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids. Ringrose’s wife, Ashley Doreen Ringrose, 34, was the front seat passenger in the vehicle and was also injured and transported to Ludington hospital by ambulance. Neither Michael Ringrose (the driver) nor his 1-year-old son were injured. Both children were in child restraint systems. The 2-year-old was in a forward-facing child seat while the 1-year-old was in a rear-facing child seat.
One of the two children in Harley’s vehicle, a 9-year-old boy, was injured as a result of the crash and transported to Ludington hospital by ambulance. Harley was not injured nor was another passenger, a 4-year-old boy, who was in a forward-facing child restraint.
Responding to the scene were Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Pere Marquette Township Fire Department, Ludington Fire Department, Oceana EMS, and Life EMS ambulance.
