AMBER TOWNSHIP — A 79-year-old Scottville man was arrested by Mason County Sheriff’s Office for operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol after the vehicle he was driving rear-ended a stopped vehicle at the intersection of US 10-31 and Stiles Road Tuesday night. The 79-year-old man was driving westbound in a GMC Sierra pickup truck when his vehicle rear-ended a westbound Chrysler Town and Country minivan driven by a 37-year-old Scottville woman; the minivan was stopped for the red traffic light.

The impact caused severe damage to both vehicles. The driver of the minivan was transported by ambulance to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital. Her 40-year-old passenger — her fiance — was uninjured.

Responding to the scene were Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Scottville Fire Department, and Life EMS ambulance. Ludington Fire Department’s rescue unit was initially dispatched but disregarded.
