HAMLIN TOWNSHIP — A US Postal Service vehicle was damaged after it was rear-ended while the carrier was stopped at a mailbox Friday morning in the 5700 block of West Decker Road, between Sherman Road and Jebavy Drive.
The 1991 Grumman postal vehicle was driven by a 51-year-old Ludington man who was stopped at the mailbox at 5742 W. Decker Road, facing eastbound. The vehicle was struck by an eastbound Chevrolet Equinox SUV driven by a 62-year-old Ludington man. Both drivers refused medical treatment by EMS on the scene.
The Equinox suffered considerable front-end damage while the rear of the postal vehicle had some damage, which appeared to be repairable. The driver of the Equinox was issued a ticket by Mason County Sheriff’s Office for driving too fast for conditions.
Also responding to the scene was Hamlin Township Fire Department.
