LUDINGTON — A 30-year-old Ludington woman pleaded guilty in 51st Circuit Court Tuesday, March 14, to one count of receiving and concealing a stolen firearm and second-offense habitual offender.
Tabatha Christine Humphreys, of 503 N. William St., Apt. A, faces a one-year jail sentence as part of a plea agreement.
Humphreys was arrested last December by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office for a Sept. 26, 2013 incident, initially facing felony charges first-degree home invasion; two counts of felony firearms; receiving/concealing stolen firearms; and second-offense habitual offender.
The other charges were dismissed Tuesday during a final conference hearing when she pleaded guilty to receiving and concealing and habitual offender.
Humphreys testified that the firearm was a stolen .38 Special Revolver.
Judge Susan K. Sniegowski said Humphreys has a previous 2008 conviction of second-degree child abuse in Mason County.
Humphreys remains lodged in the Mason County Jail on a $75,000 cash/surety bond awaiting sentencing, which is set for May 9 at 1:15 p.m.
In addition to the year in jail, Humphreys faces a probation term, which will include a substance abuse evaluation. She will also be ordered to pay restitution totaling $1,000 that is joint and several with her co-defendants.
Sentencing guidelines in the case are 12-30 months, said Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola.
