Kathleen Rae Silvis, 64, of Custer passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital with her family at her side.  Kathleen was born in Ludington on May 18, 1952, the daughter of Robert and Lorna (Stewart) Matthews, and graduated from Ludington High School with the class of 1970.  On April 27, 1985 she married Frederick Silvis in Ludington, and they have celebrated 31 years together.  Kathleen was preceded in death by her father Robert Matthews, her grandparents Charles and Leray Stewart, and Robert and Helen Matthews.

Kathleen was a faithful member of Summit Church of Christ in Ludington.  She loved her family, gardening, and her dogs and cats, which at one time numbered eleven cats.

Kathleen will be greatly missed by her husband Frederick, mother Lorna Matthews, brother Robert (Melanie) Matthews, niece Laura Matthews, nephew Rob (Jessica) Matthews, numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and her best friend Barb Stever.

Private graveside services will be held for Kathleen at Riverside Cemetery in Custer with her pastor, Damon Beaver, officiating.  Those who wish to remember Kathleen with a memorial donation are asked to consider the Second Chance Animal Shelter, or Summit Church of Christ.
