LUDINGTON — The second suspect involved in the alleged kidnapping of a 2-year-old girl has been apprehended, according to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.
Jeffrey Alan Miller, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in Hillsdale County.
Miller was suspected of being an accomplice to Alan Saporita-Fargo who allegedly took his daughter, Hailey Hunter-Rose Fargo, Monday afternoon after he failed to return her from an unsupervised five hour visitation. Hailey is in foster care in Muskegon County but under the jurisdiction of Mason County Probate Court. See related story here.
Both Miller and Saporita-Fargo face charges in Mason County of conspiracy to commit unlawful imprisonment, a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison. Saporita-Fargo was arrested earlier today also in Hillsdale County and was being returned transported back to Mason County by local sheriff’s deputies.
Saporita-Fargo also faces charges in Mason County for absconding bond. The charge stems from an incident that occurred Oct. 31, 2014 involving a teenage victim. Saporita-Fargo was supposed to appear in 51st Circuit Court today to begin his trial. Hailey was not the victim in that case, according to Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola.
Mason County sheriff Sgt. Oscar Davila said Miller did not turn himself in, despite rumors that he did. He was arrested based on tips from citizens, Davila said, adding that he did not know any more details about the arrest.
