Obituary: Rolene Wallager, 94, Walhalla

Rolene Sophia Wallager, 94 of Walhalla, peacefully passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Tendercare of Ludington. Rolene was born on July 26, 1922, the daughter of the late Carl and Beatrice (Vaughn) Smith.  

She attended Scottville schools and married Arthur M. Wallager in June of 1997 at Bachelor Church in Sheridan Township.  Rolene worked for many years at Stokley’s and Mason County Fruit Packers, retiring in 1980.  Later on in 2005 she married Vernon Vanderwater.  Rolene’s hobbies included gardening, watching wildlife, fishing, bowling and traveling.+

She is survived by her son, Arthur (Evelyn) Wallager of Custer; daughter in-law Dorthey Wallager of Walhalla; son in-law: Peter Christenson of Scottville; sisters: Charlotte (Barnum) Morely and Katy Spaulding of Walhalla; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and one great great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sons Carl and Richard Wallager, and her daughter Lois Christenson; her grandson Todd Wallager; first husband Arthur M. Wallager, and second husband Vernon Vandewater; sister  Dorthey Spuller; brothers: Pipe, Raymond, Bud, Marsh and Jake Smith; granddaughter Tammy Wallager.

Cremation has taken place.  A private memorial and interment at Bachelor Cemetery will be held at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be directed to Rolene’s family or Hospice of Michigan.
