Kenneth Russell Brooks, 86, of Ludington, died peacefully on Monday, October 10, 2016 at Willowbrook Care Home in Scottville. Kenneth was born March 21, 1930 in Richland County (Olney), Illinois the son of Alva and Edna (Winans) Brooks, and graduated from Olney High School with the class of 1949. On August 8, 1949 he married his high school sweetheart Nancy Ann Kesler in Olney and they celebrated 65 blessed years together.
Kenneth loved being a father and grandfather. He was always quick to bring a smile with a humorous story or joke. He and Nancy enjoyed visiting with family in Olney, Illinois and spending time with friends in Ludington and Albion. He was passionate about fishing, hunting and following college sports. His career in the oil industry began with Baker Oil Tools (Baker-Hughes) in Olney, Illinois, Perryton, Texas and Albion. He later became supervisor over the brine well operation at Dow Chemical Company in Ludington where he retired.
Kenneth was a member of Community Church in Ludington. In their retirement, he and Nancy cherished their time together traveling to Florida, Texas and Arizona. It is with joy and sadness we say good-bye. He now joins his parents, his wife Nancy, daughter Deborah Ann Sales, brothers and sisters: Charles, Evelyn, Flossie, Mabel, Alva, Walter, Mildred, William, and Jimmy Lee; and brother-in-law Richard Kesler along with many others who have been anxiously awaiting his arrival in heaven.
Kenneth will be greatly missed by his children: Dennis Brooks of Allegan, Michael (Mary) Brooks of Ventura, California, Douglas (Candice) Brooks of Truckee, California, and Kendra (Tim) Gibson of Ludington; his son-in-law Barney Sales of Argyle, Texas; his beloved grandchildren: Ken and Lara Brooks, Mary Komejan, Kendra Sales (David) Tabor, Amanda Sales (Paul) Wilson, Samantha and Hanna Gibson, Adam and Dylan Brooks; his precious great-grand children Stella and Aaron Tabor, Molly, Mathew and Mikey Wilson, and Eleanor Komejan; his brother Robert Brooks of Olney, Illinois; his sisters: Eugenia Cantwell of Olney, and Mary Stewart of Ferndale, Washington; his sister-in-law Evelyn Kesler of Champagne-Urbana, Illionoid ; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held for Kenneth at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October19 at Lakeview Cemetery in Ludington with Pastor Mik Sutton officiating.
