SLE S. Sanborn-Wanderer, 98 of Ludington, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Oakview Medical Care Facility. SLE was born on July 1, 1917 in Ludington, the daughter of Edward and Clara (Johnson) Baltzer, and graduated from Ludington High School. On November 24, 1938, she married Robert Sanborn in Hastings and they celebrated 40 years together before he preceded her in death in 1978. SLE later married Frank Wanderer on October 24, 1987 and he preceded her in death in 1988.
SLE worked 33 years as a cook at South Hamlin School, touching many lives, retiring on May 12, 1983. Along with her husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Marie Sanborn, her grandson William Sanborn, her brothers Robert Baltzer and Michael Baltzer, and her sister Eldonna Sorensen.
SLE will be lovingly remembered by her son Edward (Eleanor) Sanborn of Ludington, her grandchildren Ann (Tom) Martin, Kim Sanborn, Karen (Mike) Gezequel, and Robert (Janet) Sanborn all of Ludington, and Rita (Scott) Noble of Chassell; 23 great-grandchildren, and one great, great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held for SLE at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 24 at Path of Life Ministries in Ludington with Dr. Craig Nelson officiating. Her burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Ludington at a later date.
