Dear Editor,
My husband, son and myself are in Florida on vacation as I write this. The morning after we arrived, we awoke to the tragic news of the mass shooting that took place 20 miles from where we are staying. The coverage of the event has been on about every TV channel. Last night they held a vigil with candle lighting and total silence as a church bell nearby rang 49 times in remembrance for each victim.
I am in awe of the kindness and support people are giving to others in this time of crisis. The interviews with families and partners of those who were killed are heartbreaking. The thought I keep going back to is how fortunate my family is to live in Ludington where our community is accepting of others. As I read the artical on the ice cream eating contest, I am reminded of Ludington strive to include all of our community members and always keep improving our town.
Cindy Boerema, Ludington.
