Charles Hissong

Charles Merwin Hissong, 69, of Custer peacefully passed away on Monday, May 16, at home.

Charles was born on March 20, 1947 in Ludington, MI to the late Forrest and Clara (Bacon) Hissong.

Charles attended Resseguie Tech and Mason County Eastern High School.  He served as a Sailor in the Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS Duluth.  He married Ginny Villadsen on September 12, 1970.

Charles enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions, working with his brother Frosty in the meat shop and hunting.  He also enjoyed the company of his many friends at Sunday Services.  

Charles is survived by his wife Ginny of 45 years and children: Stacy Hissong (Larry Protasiewicz), Jody (Bruce) Banks and Michael (Lisa) Hissong; siblings: Forrest (Betsy) Hissong and Leola Masten; grandchildren: Matt, Adam and Katherine Protasiewicz, Bruce and Charlie Ann Banks, Payton, Blake and Madalyn Bladzik and Clara Hissong, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother William Hissong.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at the Hissong residence in Custer (497 South Reek Rd.) on Sunday May 29, 2016 at 2 p.m.
