FREE SOIL TOWNSHIP — Mason County Sheriff’s Deputy Ken Baum and K-9 tracking dog, Cash, tracked an alleged parole absconder for more than two miles Saturday morning, April 30, in the 10000 block of North Stephens Road, before apprehending the 34-year-old man.

At 10:31 a.m., Michigan State Police troopers and Mason County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the residence, acting on a tip of a wanted parole absconder, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole. “Upon arrival to the residence, the suspect fled out a rear door and was tracked for over two miles before giving up and being taken into custody.”

The suspect is currently lodged in the Mason County Jail.
