LUDINGTON — The Salvation Army of Mason and Oceana counties is in need of food items to stock its emergency food pantry, according to Major Craig Stoker.
The Salvation Army provides emergency food to area families and individuals who express a food emergency. An average of 130 requests for emergency food are received at The Salvation Army during a month. The Salvation Army accepts any food items, including non-perishable and frozen food. Donors can bring donations of non-expired food to The Salvation Army, 114 E. Melendy Street Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Alternative times can be arranged by calling 231-843-3711.
All food donations are welcome, but The Salvation Army is always looking for dinners in a box of any kind, canned fruit, canned meat, tuna, or similar items.
School or church groups are encouraged to hold a contest to see which grades of individuals can collect the most items.
