STEAM mentors needed.

PENTWATER — ​The importance of bolstering student interest in the fields of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics — STEAM — was the subject of a program for the Pentwater Service Club, Feb. 4.  

Aaron Myers, of the Michigan State University Extension office in Scottville, discussed the “4-H Tech Wizards” program that’s being introduced in Pentwater schools. Pentwater Public Schools Superintendent/Principal Mary Marshall recently sent out a community-wide appeal for adult mentors to work with students on Mondays after school.

“You don’t need to be a tech genius to mentor,” wrote Marshall in ​her recent email. “You just need an appreciation for how technology impacts our world and be ready to motivate kids to do the thinking. The 4-H program has great resources to support you in this endeavor.”  

Myers told the service club audience how the Tech Wizards program matches youth ages 8-17 with positive adult role models who want to have a positive impact on young people.
