RIVERTON TOWNSHIP — Riverton Township Fire Department was called to the Ron Lundberg farm Sunday about 5:15 p.m. for a cornfield fire near the intersection of Washington and Schwass roads. Fire Chief Joe Cooper said the field had already been harvested but the field was being mowed. Mowing equipment sparked the fire which quickly spread from the south to the north, burning about three acres. South winds, about 17 mph were gusting up to 25 mph at the time of the fire. Firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire, however.
