SUMMIT TOWNSHIP — A Summit Township family of five recently received a collaborative gift of a new roof from some area agencies. Habitat for Humanity of Mason County, along with Mason County Department of Human Services and HELP Ministries consolidated funding along with contributions of homeowner, Jamie Seymour, to replace the roof of her home. Roofing Solutions by William Brooks of Scottville provided the labor.

“It’s a great feeling to live in a community where people can come together and help one another in ways you never thought were possible” Seymour said.

Through monetary donations and grants awarded to the organization, Habitat for Humanity of Mason County is able to grow its outreach to home repair projects such as the new roof for Seymour, according to Jamie Healy, executive director.  With the newly formed Mason County Housing Coalition, local organizations are also able to do more with their limited funds by collaborating with one another to have greater impact in the community, Healy said.

“This is a true example of collaboration,” Healy said. “There are several amazing organizations at the table who all just want to help folks in Mason County.  I am so fortunate to be working alongside such passionate agency leaders; this is just the beginning of what we will accomplish together.”
