Sheridan Township boy involved in bike accident continues to recover.

GRAND RAPIDS — Maxwell Smith, the 10-year-old Sheridan Township boy who was injured in a bicycle accident on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, has been transferred to Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital, according to Paul Shoup, superintendent of Mason County Eastern Schools. Shoup sent out an update on Maxwell’s condition today.

“The family of Maxwell Smith would like to thank family, friends, the Mason County Eastern schools, and the community for the many kindnesses and support shown to them since Max’s accident,” the update stated. “Max has been transferred to Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital.  He is slowly improving, but we continue to expect a long recovery period.”

Max is the son of Lisa and Jacob Smith.

Maxwell received a head injury after the crash at the intersection of Larson and Trail Ridge roads in Sheridan Township. Max and a group of boys were traveling down a steep hill on Trail Ridge that ends at Larson Road. He ended up  in a ravine west of the intersection.
