SCOTTVILLE — Hundreds of fifth graders from Mason, Manistee and Oceana counties attended the 21st annual Western Michigan Old Engine Club education day at the club’s grounds at Riverside Park Wednesday.
During the interactive event, children learned about rural culture from the past. Upon entering the grounds, the children are given a questionnaire to ask the interpreter at each station. Demonstrations include hay baling, grain threshing, lumber milling, black smithing, wood turning, cider milling and clothes washing, among other demonstrations.
