William Lee Scarbrough, 76, passed away Aug. 29, 2015, surrounded by his children. Born Jan. 26, 1939 in Copemish, Mich., he was the 11th of 12 children of John and Malvina (Priest) Scarbrough.
He was preceded in death by brothers James, Doug, Charles, Eugene, John, Thomas and Dennis. He is survived by brothers L.D. and Fred, and sisters Gwen Porter and Joyce MacGirr.
Bill married Jean Rudy (Miller) Aug. 6, 1960, and they had four children, William (Kate), Leeann (Dan) Brown, Allison and Joseph, and granddaughters Lexie and Sydney.
He graduated from Copemish High School in 1957 and served in the U.S. Army from 1957-59. His 35-year career at MISCO (Howmet) began in 1959, when he was hired as a laborer carrying boxes. He worked his way up to become Process Engineering Department Manager, retiring in 1994 to pursue his favorite interests of hunting, fishing, gardening, card playing and spending time with family. You could never meet a more generous or kind person.
He had such a great sense of humor that if he were writing this obituary, you would be laughing right now. We will never stop missing him.
Funeral services are Thursday, Sept. 3, at 11 a.m. at Terwilliger Funeral Home in Kaleva. Receiving of friends is 10-11 a.m. Reception to follow at the Kaleva Tavern. Donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
