North breakwater closed.

LUDINGTON — The north breakwater has been closed today, effective at 3:30 p.m., due to severe weather conditions. Police Chief Mark Barnett stated the closure was “triggered” by a citizen calling the Ludington Police Department to report people walking on the north breakwater in dangerous wave conditions.  These observations were supported by Ludington Beach Patrol observations.  Per city policy the city manager, fire chief, Department of Public Works superintendent and the police chief agreed that closure was warranted, Barnett stated in a release.

Conditions will be re-evaluated on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 to determine when to re-open the north breakwater.
