Ella Mae Conant, aged 84 of Riverton Township, Pentwater passed away after a short but courageous bout with cancer. Ella Mae was born on September 20, 1930 in Lapeer County, the daughter of William Laverne and Rosellen Rebecca (St. John) Walker and graduated from Lapeer High School with the class of 1947. On May 19, 1951 she married Joseph Conant at the Hunter’s Creek Church in Lapeer and celebrated 39 years together before Joseph preceded her in death in 1990. Ella Mae found great pleasure in the company of her children and was additionally blessed with the title of Grandma and Great-Grandma, often spoiling the grandchildren with her fresh baked cookies or world famous apple crisp. She enjoyed sewing and embroidery, working in her garden, adding the rare finds to her doll and tea set collections, and looked forward to getting together with extended family. Ella Mae was also gifted with a beautiful singing voice and sang with the Smith Corners United Methodist Choir and at many weddings. She now shares her voice with the choir in heaven.
Ella Mae will be lovingly remembered by her children Cathy (David) LaFountain of Bridgeport, TX, Ronald (Ann) Conant of Boerne, TX, Jeffrey (Renee Douglass) Conant, Paul (Kristen) Conant, Renee (James) Lund all of Ludington, her 9 beloved grandchildren and 5 precious great-grandchildren, her brothers and sisters Willis (Marion) Walker of Johannesburg, MI, Nancy (George) Dunham of Harrison, Charles (Laurie) Walker of Denver, CO, Diane Klein of Longmont, CO, and numerous nieces and nephews.
