WSCC to hold 5k mud run.

May 26, 2015

VICTORY TWP. – Muddy mayhem will soon embark on the West Shore Community College campus for the first Muddy Fox Trot, a family-friendly 5K mud run with a boot camp style obstacle course, and registration is now open.
The mud run benefits the WSCC Foundation student scholarship fund and will be held on July 11, with course flights starting at 10 a.m.

The adult registration fee is $20 and the course will challenge the weekend warrior through seasoned athlete.

The day of the run, current WSCC students will be free with a valid student ID.

The grown-ups won’t be the only ones who get to play in the mud. There is no registration fee for ages 16 & under.

All participants will receive a free t-shirt and complimentary lunch. A food concession will also be available to spectators.
Organizers say while there will be challenges, many of the obstacles are similar to other mud runs.  The course will include dredging through muddy trenches, scaling muddy hillsides, slogging through shallow water crossings, and climbing over bales of hay.
“These races are a great way for the community to do something fun and challenging while raising money for a very worthy cause,” says Mike Moore, race organizer and the college’s director of recreation services. “Our focus is creating a great event while raising money to support scholarships for many of the college’s deserving students.”
Post-run activities will include food, drinks, music, bounce houses and a chance to meet the college’s mascot Westy the Fox.

“This is more about muddy memories than clean competition. It’s an entire day of family fun as participants slip, slide, and slosh their way to victory. It is a unique experience for an incredible cause whether running or watching,” Moore adds.

Registration details for the Muddy Fox Trot can be found at www.westshore.edu or find the event on Facebook.
