Build Your Own Bobsled, Winterfest at Double JJ

GRANT TWP., Oceana Co. — The inaugural Double JJ Resort’s Winterfest celebration is set for next Saturday, Feb. 28, including the popular Build Your Own Bobsled (BYOB) event.

In addition to BYOB, there will be snowmobile drag racing with time trials Saturday and the official race Sunday, March 1. Enjoy Human Hamster Racing; Human Dogsled Racing; Larger-Than-Life Beer Pong; and snow tubing. The resort will offer food and drink specials. Events begin at 11 a.m. and continue until 10 p.m. The cost is $25 per adult; $10 for children age 13 and under; and kids ages 3 and younger are free.

BYOB prizes include: first place, one night stay in a king bed suite and the Splash Package for four people; second place, dinner for four at the Sundance Steakhouse and Saloon (excludes drinks); third place, four Waterpark passes; and Best in Show, one night stay in a one-bedroom king bed suite. Bobsleds are to be made out of cardboard and duct tape only.

The snowmobile drag racing includes four classes on the 660-foot drag strip: under 600; 600s; 800s; and 1000s. Racers’ gates open at 8 a.m. with racing beginning at 10 a.m. Fastest sleds in each class in Saturday’s time trials will race Sunday. The cost is $20 per racer to enter, and spectators are free.
