Jeanette M. Greiner, age 77, of Scottville, passed on to her new life at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her beloved family and friends. Jeannette died on February 6. She was born on March 11, 1937 in Ludington to John L. and Julia (Doran) McDonald, and attended St. Simon grade school and high school, living just down the street from the church and school. On November 21, 1953, Jeanette married the love of her life, Jack William Greiner and they were blessed with three children: Victoria, Steven, and Wayne.
Hard work was always a big part of her life as she worked side by side with her husband as owners of Carpets of America in Scottville and Ludington. Her love for her family was only matched by her strong Catholic Faith. Jeannette and Jack loved to travel, and lived in the state of Texas for a short time. She enjoyed celebrating all of the holidays, especially Christmas. Keeping with family traditions, Jeanette would continue with the holiday feasts and decorations. Jeanette and Jack enjoyed the simply things in life like watching parades, going out for ice cream, and soaking in the beautiful sunsets over Lake Michigan. Times were not always rich with monetary things, but were always rich with love and happiness.
Jeanette will be sadly missed by her husband of 61 years, Jack, her daughter Victoria (Vicky) and Allan (Rocky) Sorensen of Scottville, and her son Steve Greiner of Lowell. She will also we missed by her grandchildren Jackie Sorensen of Scottville, Reuben and Sarah (Larson) Sorensen of Alexandria, Virginia, and Wayne Greiner Jr. of Grand Rapids.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, one son Wayne T. Greiner, her grandson Michael Greiner, and her siblings including; Patricia, James, Mary Lou, Doris Ann, John, Donald, Gerald and Thomas.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Jeannette at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 10, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Custer, with Rev. Dan DePew as celebrant. Friends may meet with her family for a time of visitation on Tuesdaymorning from 10:00 am until time of Mass at the church. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Custer in the spring.
