HART — With the holiday season upon us, the Michigan State Police is encouraging citizens to celebrate responsibly.
If your holiday party involves alcohol, designate a sober driver before the party begins. In addition, party hosts are asked to make sure all guests leave with a sober driver.
“Driving under the influence of alcohol endangers everyone, from the driver to the passengers, to other people on the road,” said F/Lt. Jeffrey White, Hart Post Commander. “For safety sake, please don’t get behind the wheel if you’ve been drinking.”
To reduce traffic crashes and fatalities this holiday season, law enforcement officers will be on the look out for drunk drivers. In addition, officers will be making sure motorists obey traffic laws including using a safety belt and following speed laws.
“The holidays are a time to enjoy gatherings with friends and family,” said White. “Together, we can make sure everyone celebrates safely.”
