PERE MARQUETTE TWP. – Pere Marquette Charter Township has begun the development of a new five-year township recreation plan. As part of the process township officials are seeking input from residents and visitors through a survey currently posted on the township’s website: www.pmtwp.org. The survey link is located on the home page under “Latest News” and can also be found on the Buttersville Campground Facebook page.
“Developing a current township recreation plan is an important project that will enable us to update goals and objectives for the recreation opportunities we provide to citizens and visitors.,” said Township Supervisor Paul Keson. Having a current plan in place and approved by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources also allows the township to be eligible for state and federal recreation grant opportunities that it does not otherwise qualify for.
“This is a brief 5 to 10 minute survey and citizen input is a critically important part of the process as we determine future priorities and look for ways to achieve those outcomes,” Keson said. “We encourage residents and visitors to complete the survey and provide us their perspective on the township’s recreation opportunities.” For anyone preferring to complete the survey on paper rather than on-line, the surveys are available at the P.M. Township office during regular business hours. The survey will be available for completion until January 2, 2015.
The P.M. Township Recreation Plan is being prepared by James Bernier, principal consultant at JMB Associates. Officials expect to have the draft plan available for review by mid-January and to complete the approval and adoption process by late winter or early spring.
